Master of Arts in Education (MA Education)

Master of Arts in Education is commonly known as M.A Edu., which is actually a post graduate course. Its duration is 2 years with 4 semesters. There will be changes regarding the duration, semester system, course plan etc. according to the institutions. This course is available in both modes, which are regular and Correspondence. This degree should be completed by a student in a maximum of 5 years and minimum of 2 years, and this duration may vary.
This is actually a theoretical course which mainly focuses on basic information of theory and practice. This course contains a series of very basic subjects which is designed in such a way so as to cover all the basic areas of education and number of very advanced courses as different specialization. M.Ed. is not similar to M.A Education, even though the terminology is alike, both courses are different and each have their own requisites but the contents are almost alike.

M.A Education entrance exam is having a duration of 1 ½ hours. The exam is of objective type. Four alternatives will be there for every question. M.A Education course carries 1900 marks, 1000 marks for 1st part and 900 marks for 2nd part.
1st part (semester 1 and 2)
There are 5 papers in all, in which 3 papers will be basics and common for all students and the other 2 papers will be selected from the specialization papers. The 2 specializations opted in 1st semester will be continued in all the semesters.
2nd part (semester 3 and 4)
There are 5 appears in all, in which 3 papers will be basics and common for all the students and the other 2 papers will be selected from the specialization.

It is 20% from continuous internal assessment and 80% from terminal assessment. 20% from the continuous internal assessment includes:

Bachelor of Arts is one of the oldest and well known undergraduate academic programs in the world. It is commonly known as BA which is a three year program in India. A large number of courses are covered under the arts category, including the languages, History, Geography, designing courses, Journalism, Philosophy, and Psychology etc. are some of the popular courses in the arts category. The field of study includes the non-scientific and non-technological areas.

Eligibility Criteria for BA program

The requisite minimum percentile will vary from universities or colleges. In the 2011-14 academic year the DU has put the cut off of 96% & above for different programs under arts stream.
Admission Procedure for BA program
The admission process for the bachelor’s degree in the arts subjects depends on the merit list prepared by the university or colleges. The list considers the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examination, higher secondary, and also the extra curricular activities of the candidates. For some course like designing, Hotel Management etc. the universities/institute conducts entrance test like NEED, CEED, NCHMCTEE etc. for the admission purpose. The application for the bachelor’s course will be available from the month of June from the university/college counters. The filled form should be submitted to the admission center before the final date.

BA Course Evaluation
The BA course valuation is primarily done by the exam conducted at the year end or by the semester examination. The course curriculum also includes the internal assessment done by the respective faculty of each subjects. It is a 2 years long Post Graduate Degree program. During these 2 years, students are given both theoretical as well as practical knowledge on the field of IT (Information Technology).Like in the case of B.Sc. IT, semester system is followed this case too! The 2 years are divided into 4 semesters. Students have to face different sets of subjects and four sets of external examinations during these 4 semesters.
 Like in B.Sc. important topics covered in M.Sc. IT also revolves around Information Technology, Programming, Database Management, Project Management, OS, Information Security, Software Engineering, E-Governance concepts etc. But I must say that the course material is much more advanced, when compared to B.Sc. IT program.
M.SC. IT 1ST SEMESTER SUBJECTS
  1. Object Oriented Programming using Visual C++– Important topics covered- Introduction to Object Oriented Programming, Introduction to Visual C++, Menu Environment, Text and Fonts Handling, Serialization and Message Handling Mechanism.
  2. Web Technology Concepts– Important topics covered- PHP, Flow control, Arrays, HTML and PHP Forms, String Manipulation, Writing functions, Managing data, Session control and Cookies, File Management System, XML, AJAX with PHP.
  3. RDMS & Advanced Database Administration– Important topics covered- SQL Server Programming tools, SQL Server Database, Data Integrity, Managing and Manipulating Data, SQL Server Locks, SQL Server Monitoring and Tuning, Backup and Restore, Database security.
  4. OS and Network Management– Important topics covered- Operating System tasks, Network OS, Introduction to Networks.

M.SC. IT 2ND SEMESTER SUBJECTS

In case of many Institutes, once a student reaches 2nd semester of M.Sc. IT program, he/she will have to select a group and study the topics of the selected group. The common groups are- .Net and C#, Core Java, Graphics and Multimedia and the last one- Networking Fundamentals.

In the last and final semester, students have to primarily deal with Industrial Project Work. Normally, it is the Department in the Institute that makes arrangements for this Project work.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Since this is a PG course, in order to pursue it, students must possess Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 3 years long course) from a recognized University/Institute. Minimum marks criteria also exists, but it varies from one University/Institute to another!

Those who want admission in M.Sc. IT program should also have Bachelor’s Degree in the same discipline (or relevant discipline). Some examples are- B.Sc. IT Degree, BE/B Tech IT Degree, B Com in Computer Science or IT etc.
